@stoi it’s kinda 2 years late at this point but whatever. Magic here is an application of mental power and magic sense, which I suppose is an ability to sense magic matter and manipulate it using mental power. An old magician in the beginning of the show told us that mental power is inherently connected to imagination. So in order to create a spell, magicians of this world need to recite a spell that helps them concentrate on a specific image to channel magic matter through mental power. I guess most of spells are uniform and have certain wording because it’s an effective way of teaching magic, so a spell is simply a meme. And there are few memes as powerful in MC’s mind as an incantation of one of the Powers of Arda.
That is how he was able to use a spell so fast after waking up. The Imp named Chris just gave him an aptitude for magic sense, although more powerful than that of a common mage. But his mental power was already doubled so that’ isn’t really a new level of cheat. He’d still suffer from mana depletion I’m sure. He would be more powerful that other magicians not just because he has doubled stats but because he is from a world that has infinite knowledge at his fingertips, hence his memetic library should be goddamn enormous. I bet he’s gonna twist and bend every rule of magic there is. Just think what spells can be created using our scientific knowledge as a memetic source.
Am I tripping? Did he said Avada Kedavra after the flame of Anor? And here I thought he had class. That’s a rabid dog right there. 666 on a flag, Captain Jack… my ass!
